LAISH
Sat 8th May
8pm. Doors: 7.30pm
Willkommen Collective, new signing The Laish are certainly at the forefront of the Brighton and London's alternative folk scene.
Front man Danny Green when not playing with the Laish plays drums and sings with the progressive folk behemoth, The Leisure Society , Sons of Noel and Adrian, as well as occasionally lending his talents to Laura Marling.
When he's not being useful, he's writing and recording lyrically humble beautiful songs that have an inventive finger picking style, a distinctive and honest vocal delivery and violins, melodica, bass and drums. Laish featuring Ben Gregory and Mike Miles from Curly Hair on rhythm section, violin by folk singer Jo Burke and vocals by Cathy Cardin from Sons of Noel and Adrian and Redwood Red create a sound that can only be describe as sound-scapes of beauty. Lovers of Belle and Sebastian, Nick Drake, Tom Waits, Neil Young, Stornowayetc...Should not miss this one.
A few nice words from people with pens:
“Best Live Band Seen This Week....electro-folk innovators....Daniel Green's sublime vocals...honest soulful and gimmick free” (NME)
“Pure people music for the soul...folk of the kind that raises heart rates and quickens pulses”. (Source Magazine)
