Job Description: Finance Assistant (part-time)

Title:                              Finance Assistant (part-time)

Salary:                           £19,500 FTE (£10 per hour)

Responsible to:         The Finance Officer at the Newhampton Arts Centre.

Hours of work:          8 hours per week. Additional hours may be required at busy times by agreement and will be paid at the same rate.

Working Week:         Some flexibility though the post-holder will need to be available on a Friday to work alongside the Finance Officer.

Job description: Newhampton Arts Centre (NAC) is a thriving and vibrant hub where people from all backgrounds enjoy seeing, creating and performing music, dance, drama and visual arts in all forms. We have a strong reputation for being welcoming and supportive to all visitors and bookers.

From April 2018, NAC entered an exciting new phase with new funding from Arts Council England (ACE) as one of their National Portfolio Organisations (NPO), for a minimum of four years. Developing a community and outreach programme is a key part of the business plan including focusing on local communities, older people and children and young people.

We are looking for a reliable and conscientious Finance Assistant to support the day-to-day finance operations of the organisation. This is role with training and development potential for an enthusiastic and committed individual. It is suitable for combining either with another paid role or a course of training/education.

Job Role:

  1. Logging and payment of purchase invoices in accordance with financial procedures
  2. Checking and logging debit card and pay pal payments and invoices
  3. Monthly bank reconciliations on Sage accounts software
  4. Managing and banking cash and cheques
  5. Managing debtors
  6. Reconciling sales for shows and events with promoters
  7. Processing cash sheets from box office and bar sales

Duties

Work with the Finance Officer to carry out the day-to-day financial operations necessary to maintaining the finance function

Act as a point of contact for the Finance Department for staff, external contractors etc.

Provide individual department reports and other financial information as requested by the CEO and other members of staff

Any other duties, including those undertaken by all NAC staff, as reasonably required.

Skills and experience which candidates require:

  • Relevant financial qualifications/training or equivalent professional experience
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience of using SAGE accounting software
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook and Excel.
