On Saturday 24th July, our eager Paint the Day artists took to the streets, parks, canals, busy city centre and hidden beauty spots of the Wolverhampon and Whitemore Reans area to capture the day. After eight long creative hours, artists returned to Newhampton Arts Centre to handover and hang their Paint the Day entries.
Sunday the 25th July saw the grand opening of the Paint the Day exhibition in our Muni Art space located in our Victorian gallery hall. Which became full of artwork, artists, art lovers, buyers, voters, young creatives and the all-important Paint the Day judging panel who debated the works before them and make their final choices.
1st Prize – Malcolm Pillar
Runner up – Gabriella Tarantonio
Under 18 winner – Mermouna Shazad
Photography winner – Emily Cowern
Photography runner up – Kerry Worton
This year’s Paint the Day also included a very special prize sponsored by our friends at Wildside Activity Centre. This all-new ‘Canal Prize’ encourages participants to capture the beauty of the canals by enlarging our Paint the Day 2021 route to a new 3 mile radius winner being Graham Stubbs.
Don’t forget the all-important Public Vote is yet to be decided, and this is chosen by you. Upon your entry to the exhibition you will be handed a voting slip to cast your vote.
Our Pant the Day exhibition is open everyday from 11am to 4pm until Sunday 1st August in our Muni art space, located in NAC’s Victorian gallery hall. Where you can view all winning artworks for yourself, you will also have the chance to bid on your favourite artwork – allowing you to take home a Paint the Day masterpiece.
