New Funding Announced for NAC
The Newhampton Arts Centre has been awarded funding by Arts Council England in their latest funding round. The funding, of £180,000 per year for four years from April 2018, will provide new opportunities for arts and culture in Wolverhampton.
Centre Manager, Christine McGowan, was delighted to hear the news on Tuesday 27th June. “It’s great to have this vote of confidence in Newhampton Arts Centre and the work we are doing.
The funding will enable us to deliver more exciting arts opportunities to a wide spectrum of people across the community – children, older people and the diverse local communities. We will also expand our theatre and music offer and continue developing the visual arts hub for artists.
This is the first regular funding the Centre has received since local authority cuts in 2015 and it’s a tribute to the hard work of our staff and volunteers in keeping NAC surviving and thriving in difficult times”
Peter Knott, Area Director, Arts Council England said: “Newhampton Arts Centre plays an important part in Wolverhampton’s cultural scene, and we’re delighted to welcome them to the portfolio for the next four years. It will be great to see a programme of performing and visual arts develop, which will in turn increase opportunities for children and young people, from across the city and beyond.”
