Juliane Deil Quartet

Juliane Deil is a jazz pianist with a unique sound, blending traditional, but not trad, jazz language with classical influences. She recently completed her Master’s degree in jazz piano at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and took part in B:Music’s talent development programme RISE UP.
Growing up regularly performing as a soloist and accompanist, she achieved a Performer’s Diploma with honours aged 16, and discovered her love for jazz in Richmond Music Trust youth bands. Moving to New York with her family in 2015 allowed her to continue her jazz and classical tuition at Hoff-Barthelson Music School, leading her to study a music degree at Durham University. While at Durham, she performed with her trio at Durham Jazz Festival and gained regular function work as pianist and musical director of Hatfield Big Band.

The Juliane Deil Quartet formed in 2022 and have recently performed at the Eastside Jazz Club and the B:Music Jazz Festival, with an EP recording on the way. Juliane’s work as a side musician includes the Parabola Quintet at Cheltenham Jazz Festival, the Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Thomas Marsh Quintet, as well as regular performances with The Deil Clark Duo. She is excited to continue working under the mentorship of Rebecca Nash, with some of Juliane’s main jazz influences being Oscar Peterson, Red Garland and Aaron Parks.

Juliane’s band at NAC features Nathaniel Evans (alto sax), Thomas Marsh (bass) and Reece Downton (drums).
