Wolverhampton’s Central Youth Theatre are looking to uncover local stories of Wolverhampton’s unsung heroes to inform 4 short films as part of their ‘We Built This City’ film project as funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Residents of Wolverhampton are encouraged to share their stories with the organisation during 3 interview days later this month.

The ‘We Built This City’ film project aims to celebrate Wolverhampton’s unsung heroes; individuals who have positively contributed to their local community. Whether that’s running a sports club, charity, or local community group. The films will explore stories of local people who go the extra mile to make our city a better place.

On the 31st of October 1st and 4th of November public interview days will take place at the Changemakers Hub on railway drive in which young people will interview local residents about their ‘unsung hero’. These stories will be utilised to inform 4 short films created alongside a professional film maker and showcased at a screening event at the Newhampton Arts Centre in March 2024.

Holly Parry CEO of Central Youth Theatre comments ‘We’re incredibly proud to be a Wolverhampton based organisation and this project aims to shout about all of the amazing people who contribute to making our city a better place. We’ve trained young people in oral history collection, and they are excited to hear and interpret stories celebrating those who go that extra mile to help others in need.”
